As Hurricane Irma swept across the Virgin Islands, I watched from our home in Florida, torn between staying and evacuating, while Peter Island stood directly in her path. The devastation was total. In the quiet after the storm, the island’s owners began a years-long journey—not just of rebuilding, but of reimagining. They redrew the lines of their little paradise with care and intention, all while continuing to support the stewards who had long tended to it. Seven years later, Peter Island was ready to open her shores once again, welcoming back the friends and families who had made this haven part of their own story.

The celebration was more than a party—it was a love letter to resilience, to beauty reborn. Being part of this project was the kind of dream that doesn't come around often. I spent two weeks on this quiet corner of the world, a place blissfully free from the noise and flash of typical tropical escapes. Time moved slower there, and every moment felt like something worth holding onto. Same time, next year?
