Weddings

serving the midwest & beyond

As a wedding photographer, I approach every moment with the belief that your life is an occasion—one worth celebrating in its fullest, most meaningful form. Every glance, every gesture, every moment is an opportunity to capture something extraordinary.

I see it as my role to help you rise to that occasion by immortalizing the beauty and emotion of your day, ensuring that each photograph reflects not only what’s happening in the moment but the significance of the milestone you're experiencing. Your wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and my goal is to create images that remind you of just how extraordinary your love and this day truly are, long after the celebration is over.

"Working with Jen is unlike any photography experience I’ve had before. She’s not just a photographer—she’s an intuitive storyteller. Jen has this incredible ability to capture moments that most of us don’t even notice, those quiet, deep emotions that unfold when no one is looking. Her experience shines through in the way she moves with the scene, effortlessly blending into the background, yet always tuned into what’s happening around her.

There’s something deeply authentic about the way she works. It’s not about staging perfect shots or getting the ideal pose; it’s about finding the raw, unscripted moments that truly tell a story. With Jen, it feels like she’s there not just to take photos, but to witness and preserve emotions as they happen. You can feel the depth of the moment in each image she creates—like she’s captured a part of you that you didn’t even realize was there.

If you want photos that reflect the true, unspoken depth of your experience, Jen is the photographer you want. She has this rare gift of seeing things others might miss and turning them into something truly meaningful."

Can't recommend Jen enough for your big day! An important piece of advice I got early on in wedding planning...make sure your photographer matches the energy you want to "feel" on your wedding day. This advice is SO true because you spend more time with your photo team than any of your guests or even your husband! Jen is who you want by your side. She brings a calm and warm energy. She gets the shot but you hardly know she's there! We were able to stay present and enjoy the day.  She has a talent for capturing the emotion of the moment. I am beyond happy with our wedding photos. They feel like a timeless depiction of our wedding day.

Jen is professional and has the talent without the ego. She got my stubborn 3 year old niece to smile and my 90 year old grandma to feel confident in her family portraits. I love her photojournalism approach to documenting weddings. The photos feel true to the day but still have that bit of magic and romance. Jen is a master of her craft and a joy to work with!

Oddly enough due to someone writing their email down incorrectly at one of Jen Kroll's other wedding shoots... a preview of an album showed up in my email the very year I was getting married. I had looked at other photographers and kept coming back to this album. Something much bigger than I, put me in touch with this wonderful woman. After contacting Jen Kroll Photography I knew that I would never find another person that was such a great fit for my wedding. Professional... absolutely, reasonable... yep.... but it was much more than that. She captured us, the venue, the day.... the experience like no one else could. I never felt uncomfortable or shy, (not that it is really possible to make me that way) but she made us feel at ease. The shots were breathtaking and they cover the walls of my home.

One of the things I remember most is that she went to such lengths to make me feel special and important. For example... before the wedding I had shared the story of the Peridot stone that the girls were wearing and what significance they had to me, especially since the wedding was in Hawaii. Well the day after the wedding, Jen handed me a film container full of sand that had tiny piece of Peridot in it. That sand still sits on my bedside table today. It meant the world to me that she paid that close attention to my detail, and the research I had done, the lengths I went to mattered. Jen Kroll Photography is a one of a kind company, with a one of a kind star photographer at the helm. She is someone I was so proud to work with and well after the wedding I am still so proud to call her friend!

My work is often described as natural, candid, and timeless. I strive to capture genuine emotion and authentic connection in a way that feels effortless and organic. Clients frequently share that what stands out most is how I document the quiet, meaningful moments—the ones that might otherwise go unnoticed—using soft, natural light and beautiful surroundings. My style blends a fine art sensibility with a documentary approach, allowing me to preserve the essence of each celebration while keeping the experience relaxed and enjoyable. The result is a collection of images that feel both romantic and enduring—photographs that hold their meaning for years to come.

Our packages are custom quoted based on factors like location, event complexity, duration, and the number of photographers and assistants needed. We believe every celebration is unique, and we tailor our services to fit your specific needs, ensuring you get exactly what you envision.

While we specialize in multi-day, luxury events with many moving parts, we also love capturing the intimate moments of a quiet backyard celebration on a Tuesday evening. No matter the scale or style, we’re here to make sure your day is beautifully documented.

What’s included in your wedding packages?

I photographed my first wedding in 1999 on black & white film that I developed in the dark room. Documentary wedding photography wasn't really a thing then but I was thoroughly hooked. After shooting a hundred or so events as a "hobby," I took my business full-time in 2006 with 40 weddings and events that year. Since then, I’ve intentionally scaled back the number of events I accept each year to provide more personalized service and dedicated attention to each of my clients.

It's safe to say that I've documented 200-300 events over the years and have watched many forms of technology come and go. This journey has been one of the greatest adventures of my life, and I’m incredibly grateful for all the wonderful friends and connections I’ve made along the way.

Teamwork truly makes the dream work!

Wedding and event vendors all play a crucial role in creating the best possible experience, and the most memorable weddings come from a coordinated effort. While we're always happy to offer insights and feedback when developing a timeline, your wedding planner is the expert and has the big picture in mind.

We love capturing stunning bridal portraits, but what we enjoy even more is when there's time for genuine bridal experiences—allowing the portraits to unfold naturally in the context of you fully enjoying every moment of your day. It's those candid, joyful moments that make the photos even more special!

How do you handle timelines on the wedding day?

Next question

Life can be unpredictable, and sometimes things don’t go as planned. There’s only one time I’ve ever had to miss a wedding—when my dad passed away in Florida. With the funeral and a hurricane delaying flights, I had to rely on the help of a dear friend and incredibly talented photographer to step in. I’ve also had the privilege of covering for other photographers on occasions when they were unable to shoot weddings.

I want you to feel completely confident that your event will be captured by a skilled professional with a style similar to mine. Building strong friendships in this industry has been such a blessing, and I’m fortunate to have some of the most wonderful people by my side. Your day is in good hands.

What happens if you’re unable to shoot our wedding due to illness or emergency?

I’m so excited to offer a downloadable sneak peek gallery within 48 hours of your wedding! As an artist, I can’t wait to relive ALL THE THINGS with you! While these images may not be the final edits, they’ll be pretty close, giving you a quick glimpse of your beautiful day.

I absolutely love the editing process and strive to create timeless images that stand the test of trends. Most weddings are delivered within 4-6 weeks, and larger, multi-day events are delivered in under 8 weeks.

When your gallery is ready, I’m here to help you select the perfect images for your album or as gifts for family members. Printed photos make the most heartfelt thank-you gifts—and it’s something only you can provide!

How long after the wedding will we receive our photos?

Next question

Yes, and I can provide it to the venue, if needed.

Do you have liability insurance?

Next question

As you plan your timeline, 10 hours is a great starting point for most single-day weddings and events. For more intimate weddings, 6-8 hours can often be just right, and depending on the logistics and guest count, we may be able to cover everything with just one photographer. Our record is a whopping 19 hours (8am-3am!), and yes, we were still going strong by the end! In fact, one of those 3am photos is featured on our site and is one of our all-time favorites—see if you can guess which one!

We’re here to work closely with your wedding planner to ensure we provide the perfect coverage to fit your needs and make your day unforgettable.

How many hours of coverage do we need?

Next question

Absolutely! While it’s easy to think of the main family photos, it’s also wonderful to consider those special people who might not be front and center but are still so important to you—like a second cousin, a godparent, or a teacher who helped inspire your career.

We don’t need a detailed “shot list” of every little thing (like cake cutting or first dance), but having a family portrait list can really help keep things moving smoothly and get everyone back to enjoying cocktail hour! A little pro-tip: it’s always helpful to give those important people a heads-up so they know to stick close when it’s time for photos!

Can we request specific shots or family photo combinations?
